Protein
Protein is one of the most essential elements for healthy muscles. It not only helps in building and repairing muscle tissue, but also provides energy for muscle movement and contraction. Sources of proteins are eggs, soyabeans, nuts and dark greens.
Calcium
Calcium plays the role of a neurotransmitter enabling the muscles to create force and contract. Hence, it is a mineral that helps in improves the functioning and contraction of muscles. Milk, dairy fruits, sardine, salmon and broccoli are sources of calcium.
Carbohydrates
Carbs are important because they help the body to release insulin which pulls available nutrients in the blood and this helps gain muscle as we age. Foods like pasta and bread are two great sources of carbohydrates.
